A structured, practice led programme for coaches and staff who want to teach chess with more clarity, stronger classroom habits and professional judgement.
Not a promise of ratings, jobs or tournament results. A programme for practising the work of good coaching.
November 2026 Cohort
The official curriculum runs for 13 weeks of guided practice.

Teaching in practice
Every considered move begins with a considered coach.
Choose an intake, record the deadline, then tell us what you want to develop as a coach.
The proposition
Chess knowledge is essential. It is not the whole job. The curriculum focuses on what happens when a learner is stuck, a group is uneven, a parent needs clarity or a lesson needs a better plan.
Break complex chess ideas into learner friendly explanations using structure, visual language, questioning and guided practice.
Practise classroom routines, age and level adaptation, mixed skill strategies and constructive responses to mistakes.
Prepare reports, parent-conversation scripts, inquiry responses and respectful ways to handle professional disagreement.
The official curriculum
Each phase advances the work, from identity and delivery to classroom leadership, conduct and a final teaching demonstration.
Build the values, communication habits, professional presence and learner centred judgement that shape every class.
Turn standards into reliable practice: structured lesson planning, online delivery, documentation, inquiries and professional escalation.
Learn to explain clearly, lead mixed groups, develop independent thinkers and communicate well with families and colleagues.
Consolidate planning, professional boundaries, leadership, mentorship and a final observed teaching segment.
What you will practise
This is not a library of vague theory. Each module asks you to apply, write, rehearse, reflect or demonstrate.
